Children’s Institute’s One World Café & DEIB Statement

Cultural diversity is integral to the design and function of the Children’s Institute community. That ensures every staff and faculty members is valued, honored, respected, and able to contribute, and that unity is achieved not through uniformity, but through the harmonious integration of diverse gifts and roles. This approach can inspire us, our families, and our community partners to celebrate diversity while fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute.

Cultural Recognition, Respect, and Resilience: Inclusiveness involves recognizing and valuing the cultural contributions and identities of all groups within Children’s Institute and the communities we serve.

In alignment with Children’s Institute’s vision, mission, and core values, Children’s Institute’s DEIB team has proposed and implemented plans for Children’s Institute’s One World Café. In our new location on St. Paul Street, we are reshaping the shared flexible space we use for our break room, cafeteria, and library into a space for intentional multicultural celebrations. Plans are underway to honor various cultures & identities with rotating displays, decorations, resource & book sharing, training opportunities, and caring conversations. The development of Children’s Institute’s One World Café is to celebrate and recognize diversity and inclusivity, as reflected in the DEIB Statement:

“Children's Institute envisions communities where children, youth, and families thrive as they live, learn, and play. We recognize the diversity of the communities we serve and are dedicated to identifying and addressing racism and other inequities to honor and respect every person's identity. Our commitment starts within our workplace through self-reflection, listening, and learning. We are integrating these insights into our work and our engagement with the families and systems we serve to enhance our effectiveness.”
