Remembering Yvonne Moss
On January 11, 2024, we lost a beloved friend and coworker. Today, the University of Rochester's flags will be lowered for Yvonne Moss.
Yvonne Moss was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on August 15, 1951 to J.C. and Mattie Moss. She was the third of 7 children and the baby girl of the family. Yvonne graduated from James Madison High School in 1969. After high school Yvonne settled into life as a career driven women and a mother of two. In 2009 she graduated from Monroe Community college with a degree in Applied Science. While attending college, Yvonne excelled in her studies. She was selected to be a part of numerous honor programs such as Who's Who among Students in American Universities & Colleges, the Excellence Program, and her college Dean's List. Yvonne worked as a bartender for numerous years with the Rochester Bar Association and was a current employee at Children's Institute in Rochester, NY since 2016.
We here at CI miss Yvonne very much. She brought us joy and made us laugh daily. At our most recent staff meeting, we honored Yvonne's memory by sharing stories and remembering the warm and welcoming presence Yvonne was to all of us— and to everyone who met her. How lucky we are to have her as a part of the CI family!
