Summer Intern: Jared Gosling
Jared Gosling joined Children’s Institute as an intern in Research and Evaluation in the 2024-2025 school year while a senior at SUNY Brockport. He graduated in Spring 2025 with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Math. Jared has continued to volunteer time with Children’s Institute this summer, working on research related to measurement of early childhood learning environment.
Jared’s analytic skills, spreadsheet work, research skills, intellectual curiosity, and outstanding work ethic has made him an invaluable part of the research team. He is working on a manuscript that shows how the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) tool is a reliable and valid observational measure of preschool classroom quality.
In addition to this work Jared was also invited to learn about other programs like the Rochester Area Parent Program (RAPP). He accepted the invitation to help out at a distribution of supplies for parent participants in Children’s Institute’s One World Café.
One RAPP parent commented on her experience with Jared in her evaluation of the RAPP program after she completed the course. When asked, “How did you find the support staff from Children's Institute?” she wrote:
"They were helpful — The first meeting with all the moms at the Children's Institute was such a beautiful experience for me! I had my 4-year-old daughter with me, and one of the staff actually ended up reading her a book so I could focus on setting up the tablet. I was so pleased with the entire staff but that one person really stood out to me, and I wish I knew their name because they deserve the recognition."
That moment was captured in these pictures of the event.
