What's Great in Our State: New York State (NYS)

Primary Project has been a huge success and has played an instrumental role in the social development of our students. Furthermore, Primary Project has shed light on the importance of understanding the needs of our students and ways to come together to build up our school community.

Each year, Primary Project programs in New York State (NYS) complete an end of the year survey, including their own program highlights. Read about program successes here. 

Primary Project is in 98 schools, 47 districts, and 29 counties.

The number of students screened and served is up from last year! This year, Primary Project screened 16,667 students, which is 1,746 more than last year. Primary Project served 2,234 students as a result of screening, which is 677 more than last year.

While K-2 students are the primary focus, Primary Project Pre-K continues to grow. It now has 14 programs up and running across the state. 

The percentage of what grades make up Primary Project are as follows:

  • Pre-K: 6%
  • Kindergarten: 28.5%
  • 1st grade: 29.4%
  • 2nd grade: 23.4%
  • 3rd grade: 12.8%

Respondents listed the relationship between the child and child associate as the most critical element.

81% would recommend Primary Project to a friend or family member.
